When Qantas Adds a Flight, We Add a Destination!
Saturday 10th October 2026
Some people spend years dreaming about their next holiday destination. Others have a bucket list that stretches around the world.
Us? We noticed Qantas had started flying to Palau!
Qantas launched its weekly direct service from Brisbane to Koror, Palau, in late 2024. Suddenly, a little-known Pacific island nation we’d probably never seriously considered became a very tempting prospect.
Our adventure started in Wagga Wagga, with a flight to Sydney yesterday morning, a hop up to Brisbane yesterday afternoon, a loverly catch up and dinner with Katy, Brad and their gorgeous kids last night, and now, we are at Brisbane Airport and nearly ready to board the direct flight to Palau.

But a little background before I go on.
Last Saturday Will and Emma got married. It was the most perfect day, magical in fact, and you still can’t wipe the smile of Dave and my faces. Their loved-up day went totally to plan, the threatened rain moved completely around the most gorgeous property in Monteagle, where they chose to have 120 of their closest friends and family witness them commit their lives to each other.
To say we are happy to have Emma ‘officially’ in our family is an understatement. For 10 years we have admired and loved her and now she is Mrs Morley too! That both my children have amazing partners is a true blessing, and it’s not lost on me how lucky we are to have both Emma and Justin. How good is life!
I am more than sure many of you are sick to death of my wedding photo spam – but here are a few of my favourites 🙂

While Emma and her’s parents and sisters did the bulk of the preparation and work for the wedding, it was still a bit of busy time for Dave and I too. Spending the whole long weekend with all of my wonderful family was a delight, and by the time we got home to Wagga on Monday afternoon we were pretty knackered.
We had learned that weddings were exhausting after Victoria and Justin got married last November, so this time we thought a post-wedding holiday would be a good idea, and so we decided to have a ‘Parents of the Groom’ Honeymoon.
I’m sure it’s no surprise to you all that we don’t need much of an excuse to have a holiday!
So why Palau?
Well, the more we looked, the more interesting it became. Spectacular limestone islands, turquoise water, extraordinary marine life, world-class diving and snorkelling, and a fascinating World War II history. Add local food and a week of exploring somewhere new, and we were sold.
Sometimes the best travel plans start with a flight sale or a new airline route. This time, it was simply a new destination on the Qantas map.
Now, let’s see what we’ve got ourselves into!
The six-hour flight leaves at 10am, I’ll let you know how that goes when I post again from Palau.
Bring on country #84, keeping me equal with Will 😉
